No comment on that, really, except to note Johanne making yet another
vague--& for that alone irksome--slur on those other than herself.

Many believe what they like to believe. I believe what I saw--CL looking
like hell warmed over. Just yesterday, I read a HL retrospective in HotDog
mag (why DO they call it that?) that mentioned Endgame & offhandedly
dismissed CL there as fat & old. Well, I didn't notice the fat so much, but
since he looked so DAMNED old, AND since such appearance warred absurdly w/
the whole spirit of HL & immortality, I won't quarrel w/ the mag writer.
(Not that 90% of the REST of Endgame didn't war absurdly w/ the spirit of
HL, but we're talking here about the physical appearance of 2 of the stars
of HL1 15 or so years later. And Clancy Brown looks quite fine, top to
bottom, in Breaking News--like he could step right back into The Kurgan &
go. CL, for whatever reason, stepped back into Connor & looked like he was
ready to fall down & not be able to get back up.)

Ooh--it's nice to see the fairy killer in action again.... (Though, some
small corner of decency whispers to me that "shriveled" & "AP" just
shouldn't be in the same thought. OK--there are other corners. And SK just
looks ... hungry to me these days--feed that boy!) Of course, Tracy
Scoggins should go back to trashy soap roles (IF she can still get any,
gravity being the bitch it is), & Lisa Howard may as well avoid any role
placing her onscreen w/ those of the opposite sex, having flunked chemistry
no end (are nuns "in" again?).

Since I am a mag writer, I feel completely qualified to quarrel with
another one. However CL looked in Endgame, my point is -- he doesn't
look like that in current real life. I've seen *recent* pix of him
-- as of a few months ago -- and he looks *much better* than he did
in Endgame. I've seen him in movies made since Endgame, and he looks
better in them, too. No, he doesn't look like he did in HL1, but he
certainly doesn't look like he's ready to fall down and not be able
to get back up. The discrepancy is quite jarring. Therefore,
because appearance is so mutable in Hollywood, where incredible
things can be done with make-up and special effects (of the plastic
and physical, not just computer, kind), I do think that in Endgame a)
either CL was deliberately aged for reasons aforesaid or b) at the
very least, no effort was made to make him look younger.

Re: CL: It was makeup. I remember my sister being convinced that
David Threfall (sp?) was really physically and mentally impaired in
Nicholas Nickelby (the Roger Rees nine-hour version) until he
walked out at the end to take a bow. (Wasn't he in Patriot Games?)

I'm sure CL has a life. He may even have a successful life. But a currently successful movie career? I suppose the fact that he still gets hired is, in fact, a measure of success. Then again, he may be producing his own movies and casting himself. Vercingétorix? Very bad. Fortress 2. Ugh. Beowulf? Laughable I'm sure he is still all the rage in France (where, no doubt, Jerry Lewis is still king of comedy <eg>) .

Really--you've seen him recently "in real life"?

Pix are pretty easy to look good in--easier than on moving film--via make-up
or air-brushing.

But, if your theory--about them aging Connor to show his ennui, is
correct--how come he _also_ looked older than God in the flashback scenes
where he is (for Connor) doing just peachy? Because he looked bad in the
scene w/ Heather, in the highwaymen romp, at Duncan's wedding (bah!),
teaching Duncan the sword move, etc.
IMDb has him born in 1957 & Clancy Brown in 1959 (which of course was a very
good year in that it produced AP &, well, me).

Maybe he had work done in the past couple years. Or maybe he's just
happy--he got married in the interim, didn't he?

He's doing extensive sword, martial arts & wire-work training in preparation
for starring in Highlander: The Source. It'll co-star Roger Moore (the
other guy is way too $$$) & the cheapest big-lipped yet totally obscure
"actress" they can find. It'll feature the HL Store's nifty new red, white
& blue swords & employ 678 film editors (conservative estimate). For some
reason, all the characters will wear lots of different yet distinctive
coats. And several necklaces will be featured prominently. Plot to be
determined half-way through filming at the most remote & budget-friendly
location to be found as of 30 days prior to the film's cinematic release.
