That was a nice change. Now it just appears that all the Immortals involved in Sanctuary were incredibly stupid and/or suicidal. That's life <eg>
For those with the DVD set:
Am I the only one who is disappointed that TPTB choose to sell the "new" movie coupled with the "working print" rather than selling the "original" with the "new"? While I wasn't fond of the original theatrical release..I kinda wanted to have it ..much as I have HL:2 with the Zeist references still intact *and* the Director's cut with Zeist excised . Selling the "working print" as an "earlier cut of the film" seems to be stretching things a bit.... I'm not sure there was enough extra material to justify a two-DVD set. (Why do I think everything would fit on one DVD if they tried?)(Maybe because they managed to get two versions of "The Abyss" on one DVD.)
And..as has been noted..who the hell blotted out the JVC sign? Is that the best work they could do?
I have to watch it again..I'm going to track that damn necklace if it kills me <eg>
As a sucker for happy (happier) ending, I admit to liking Faith's survival - anything that makes Duncan smile is OK by me <g>

Subject: HL:EG review at IGN
IGN's website has a pretty good review of the DVD, detailing the package as
well as reviewing the movie itself. The movie gets a rating of 8 (out of
10), while some of the package items get panned; the overall rating is 7.
The reviewer was a fan of HL1 _only_ (& his understanding of the franchise &
mythos is less than perfect), yet he comes around & praises AP's performance
here.

Don't forget the Watcher mortals--they're idiots, too, for _not_ putting
Sanctuary on HG. Of course, that isn't really news.... Joe's about the
only Watcher we ever saw who isn't one Chronicle short of a library.

Wonder if that's not at the heart of why there's a producers' cut but no
director's cut. (Do other movies end up releasing _producers'_ cuts, or is
someone's ego getting out of hand?) From what I've read, there aren't plans
for Doug A. to do one, either.

Even if it was the caterer playing w/ the fancy equipment while on break,
it's another glaring example of bad editing.

I was really hoping to see DM return it to Faith in the present day love
scene, rather than her just suddenly be wearing it. There's an oddity about
Caolin's cross, too; in the workprint, we see it was actually the gunpowder
guy who snatched it off her neck, while in the theater release & here it's
presented as Kell taking it off her (which tracks w/ him tossing it to CL in
the cemetery).

I don't mind her living so much & Duncan smiles are always nice, but DM
seems such a moron in that scene! He just stands there, while she yammers
on & someone other than AP speaks his only real line. It's not ONH-like
behavior, & all the cuts made the whole scene feel jumpy. That ending left
a bad taste in my mouth.

Well, of course, the whole Sanctuary plot was pretty silly. The concept of warehousing Immortals for decades or centuries is mind-boggling on so many levels. How did they talk the first Immortal into it? Do they advertise? How many people know about it? Why didn't Horton wipe these guys out - seems like his style. What was that gunk they shot up their noses? Who gets to hose down the floor every day or two? Did Immortals sign up for periods of time and then get turned loose ..or was it really a one way trip? If it was permanent..why did they need replacements occasionally - or was 12 the total number of Immortals who had volunteered since the project began? Was being assigned as a Watcher to Sanctuary considered a plum assignment or a shit job? Given 4000 years of studying Immortals..and mortals ..did they *really* think they could keep the Game from encroaching on tier Sanctuary? If they were so worried about the Game and its eventual winner..why not shoot Kell. And why was !

No..not bad editing..bad photoshop work. Lance did a better job of doctoring the WTO protest pictures than P/D did of doctoring the JVC sign. Sheesh..did they use a magic marker on the master print?

I've decided - based on no evidence- that Duncan mailed it to her years ago and she kept it hoping to throw it in his face one day.

Oh..I'm sorry..every time Kell comes on screen, I close my eyes and stick my fingers in my ears and hum "Llalalalalalala" until he goes away.

He was a stunned mullet. He thought she was dead and she wasn't so he just stood there and beamed like a loony while she talked. He was just waiting for her to shut up so he could kiss her <eg> You're not going to spoil it for me ::::stamps foot:::: Duncan ended up happy and that's OK with me. 118 episodes..how many did he end up smiling at the end of ...especially after Season One? Damn few. So there! <g>
#mean-spirited(Still confused about why the basement of the cathedral looked like the third circle of hell.)(Oh wait...never mind.)
