So this article about Highlander: The Source showed up on SciFi.com today. And I think we need to convene a support group or something, because I'm just not sure of my feelings. I'm torn between "meh" and "bleh." What should I be feeling? And do I feel worse because there apparently will be 3 new movies eventually? http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/index.php?id=31891 On the up side, I'm feeling pretty happy about dogsitting tomorrow - the dog's owner was with the original group of Chicago HL fans who went to Gathering I in Denver way back in... 1994? So I'm looking forward to a little movie-related gossip, which is why I need help in figuring out whether I am filled with anxiety, dread, or ennui regarding the next movie(s). -- Ginny Life. Short. Well on the positive side, David Abramowitz is writing this next movie and so I am filled with hope. Further reason for hope is that Dimension Films is no longer involved and that might mean we'd get more than their eternal horror movie vision. And more importantly, AP, PW and JB are all in the movie with more screen time for the latter two this time. All of that is encouraging. And Lionsgate is a pretty good distributor. But I'm not thrilled with that SciFi piece because they are still calling it the Source and my understanding is the movie can't be called that because both that name and that original script [which has been made null and void] belonged to Dimension. I also don't know if I have great confidence in this Leonard fellow and his "vision" of "mythological fantasy." For now......I've decided to be cautiously happy. [but will never again let myself get as overly excited as I was with Endgame because I couldn't deal with another disappointment. Mind you I liked Endgame. Saw it almost 20 times in the theatere but only because Adrian Paul never looked better. :)] ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Aug 2005 10:35:28 -0400 From: "a.j.mosby@btinternet.com" <a.j.mosby@btinternet.com> Subject: Re: SciFi.com Touts Highlander: The Source I wouldn't completely rule out 'The Source' as a title. The Holy Grail of Immortals? What is that? Where did that come from? Maybe it's Excalibur ... the sword that can make its wielder beat any other immortal. Or some potion to make you invincible. Blech. And the origins of the immortals??? Yeah, we're all curious and we like to talk about it. We've had some interesting fan fic about where new immortals come from, but what makes them think they can come up with an idea that most of their fans won't hate?? I remember someone at a con (Bill Panzer or David Abramowitz, maybe) saying that they would never tell where immortals came from because the fans would all hate it. They should have stuck with that! I know I should give them a chance, but Endgame was so horrid that I don't think I'll see any more movies that claim to be Highlander until someone whose opinion I respect tells me it's worth going to see. (And no, sticking "Highlander" in the title doesn't make it Highlander, IMNSHO.) That's a lot of times. I hope, sincerely, you have enjoy others movies since. Johanne p.s. my all time favourite - Moulin Rouge - 8 times. But I have the very, very, regular habit of going, going and going some more to movies that I enjoy. Endgame, once in French, once in English, was plenty for a lifetime. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 3 Aug 2005 13:55:35 EDT From: Dotiran@aol.com Subject: Re: SciFi.com Touts Highlander: The Source In a message dated 8/3/2005 11:45:25 AM US Eastern Standard Time, jojoann@sympatico.ca writes: >>>p.s. my all time favourite - Moulin Rouge - 8 times Absolutely love that one so much I bought the DVD and never tire of it. Are we even _sure_ the 1st of these films is planned as a theater release? So got to meet him and see a great movie. It's one of those DVD's I never tire of. I think the film I have watched most those is The Godfather, I lost count when it got into treble figures. I never got the chance to se Endgame in the cinema as it was never released here, but I have seen three different DVD versions.
