From: kageorge <kageorge@erols.com> (commentaries) [..] and there have been several episodes where I felt major issues were ignored. For instance, I recall that the director of "Courage" [..] talked about it being an anti-drug episode, when that wasn't the core message at all. [..] That's just one example of many times substantive issues that would have been fascinating to explore from the series' creators/writers/producers, but were not touched upon. I didn't realize you meant specific topics you wanted them to talk about when you said they `frequently missed the boat' on commentaries. I thought you meant the lack of information in general in some of them. What they should have done for the Horsemen episodes was something similar to what they did for "Something Wicked/"Deliverance", where they had a whole section of outtakes and commentary at the end of that season's disks. I don't remember specificially what they did for SW/D since I haven't watched it for awhile. But most (maybe all) the episodes in the S5 set have comments from assorted people about each episode. They're a separate part of the disc though and not ones that run along with the episode itself. Offhand I don't think there were any outtakes for CAH/Rev6:8 on the DVDs. =}{= (heidi@bronze.lcs.mit.edu) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 2004 12:28:01 +0100 From: "a.j.mosby" <a.j.mosby@btinternet.com> Subject: OT: No Vampire Left Behind. I'm almost there, since I just posted the commentary for "The Messenger", although they are going a little slowly at the moment due to those pesky RL commitments. There are a few. Sevearl takes of the `Jimmy Scene', the scene where M,K, and S talk to the doctor at the asylum, and some of the quickening. =}{= ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 18 Oct 2004 17:24:29 -0400 From: SenseiRob@aol.com Subject: Re: Season 5 dvd Commentary: =?ISO-8859-1?B?oFRoZSBNZXNzZW5nZXI=?= >Gillian notes that, up until that point in the series, the Methos we >knew had never had a flashback, so the possibility still existed that >“our” Methos was fake, a guy just calling himself Methos. She liked the >notion that we could have been acquainted with a character for years, >and suddenly discovered that everything you believed about him was a lie. I always felt so vindicated by this episode. I could never understand how Duncan made a ridiculous leap of faith ( "...Methos?" ) and actually came to the conclusion with no incontrovertible evidence (and Adam Pierson never actually suggesting it!) that the big-nosed guy was this legendary oldest immortal. It was definitely an unpopular opinion here, but it was a heckuva lot of fun. I flat out refused to believe Peter Wingfield really was playing the oldest immortal Methos until they proved it, onscreen. The fact that GH actually comes right out and says the same thing, even years after the fact, brings a smirk to my face. Related bits of List lore to this assumption-gone-awry are "The Dread Pirate Methos", where immortals would assume the name and mantle after the original had slipped away some time ago... and that's exactly what "The Messenger" was all about. See? So I got something right in all those years of fandom. <wink> -Rob (Now if they'd only gotten rid of the Watchers, made only one movie and set HL:TS before it, and left Connor as the One...)
