Per Donna Lettow on HL Forum way back in 1999--
"Barges: Season one, the barge was only rented for exteriors. The entire
"barge" interior was located on a soundstage nowhere near the river.
Seasons two-six, both interiors and exteriors were shot on an actual barge,
which meant that a barge had to be rented and moved to that location near
Notre Dame where barges don't usually moor for all the days of barge
filming. After a while, it got harder to get the original rental barge all
the time it was needed, and another barge was found and was used when the
first barge was unavailable.
You'll have to ask Ken Gord about the signage. Nobile was the sign on the
original barge, Amadeus the other one. These signs were not put there by
production. "
Nina (& those damned signs show up quite clearly in the stock shots used
throughout the series, all jumbled up; it's like the barge has an identity
crisis)

Yes; it was in the episode "Father's Day". Haven't seen the

Yeah, and as soon as that happened, it developed into
"Who's going to end up in Mac's bed next time?" If he
wasn't doing it in the flashbacks, he was doing it in
the present-day part of the storyline. I don't have
quite as much of a problem with people like Annie and
Amanda, though I'm not overly fond of Amanda, who he
at least had histories with, but like the annoying
reporter in Warmonger, and the one in yesterday's ep,
no. It just kinda seemes to me he's letting the wrong
organ do the thinking sometimes if you know what I
mean. He could at least get to know them better first
before he jumps into bed so quick. But, I know it
won't be long before Anne comes into the picture, and
from what I've read he was sort of regular at times
with her...on and 0ff...so maybe he'll cool it a bit.

Sex sells, from the producers' standpoint. There were minuses, but a big
plus of AV leaving the show was that it freed up DM's libido in present day.
And many of the romantic/love-making scenes of H:TS are spectacular; the one
in Pharaoh's Daughter isn't at all shabby.
But, that aside, exactly why _shouldn't_ DM sleep w/ whatever woman he
pleased? As long as they were adults, it was consensual, etc., which was
the case. No chance of pregnancy or STD's--it doesn't get much safer than
sex w/ an Immie. (As long as one stays away from the sword stashed under
the bed.)

I expect that Immortals have little enough happiness in their lives that they take it where they can. A little harmless sex between two ships that pass in the night..who cares? Duncan was never shown to be leading on any of these one-night-stands. They approached it as a casual thing, he did too. Sometimes it was just sex, sometimes it was comfort, sometimes it was just easier then saying no" <eg>. He was healthy, male and unattached. - not to mention tall dark and handsome -and rich..who *wouldn't* sleep with him?

It seemed pretty clear to me that he slept with Annie because he and she both were in so much pain that they needed to hold onto something just to get through a few more hours. The ones they loved were dead - they needed to feel alive. And...it wasn't as if Duncan just went out and picked up some woman in a bar. He knew Annie. Plus...he is 400 years old. This isn't the first lover he's lost. While he never forgets them, while it still hurts, he is aware that life goes on and the best (maybe the only) way to survive it emotionally is to throw yourself back onto the horse. (Not that I'm calling Annie a horse.)(Not exactly)

Here' the problem. Do you speak ancient Egyptian? Well, neither does the actress playing Nefertiri. They could have had her speak some fake Egyptian-sounding gibberish and put subtitles on the screen for the whole hour.- would that have been better?
In the interest of rationalization, let's say that she has a babel fish in her ear. Or..that she wasn't 100% dead and had picked it up from voices she heard while still in the sarcophagus. Or, that she and Duncan were actually speaking Latin but we *heard* English.

Maybe he dressed the Watcher in black, painted his face white, and then just carried him out. What's one more apparently drunken mime in Paris? No one would look twice.

I think I was kinda thinking too fast there last
night. Sometimes I just think of it that way too. That
we're just hearing English so we can understand them.
And yes, subtitles do get annoying after a while. I
haven't seen a lot of material with them, but they
were used on occasion in Forever Knight, and having
them on the screen all hour wouldn't be practical.

That would be...wrong.
Just keep in mind that Anne is a supposedly respected & skilled doctor.
Keep in mind that TPTB have said she was their stab at a professional woman
& they couldn't understand the ...mixed... reception female fans--many of
whom are professional women--gave her. Watch Anne's clothing & demeanor.
Watch how she handles her patients & her friends; watch her personal &
professional lives overlap. Watch decisions she makes, then unmakes, then
changes course on. Watch the consequences. In the end, decide if DM was
better/happier for knowing her.
It seemed to me that in season 3, DM wanted to settle down, after the
repeated casual flings of season 2. (Or--the writers had decided DM should
settle down for a bit in season 3). For DM, Anne was handy, just not right.
(For the writers, Anne was a mess.)
