Heavens no, that's not what I meant at all. Sorry if I gave that impression. As ZK said, frivolity is big business and a good distraction. No doubt we'd all welcome a light discussion, or perhaps a good ol' fashioned drool-fest. I was speaking only for myself, feeling rather overwhelmed by the pervasive atmosphere of anger & tension. It seems everywhere I look, in RL and on-line, folks are arguing. The volume of rhetoric from all camps is deafening. I just don't have the energy or desire for a debate right now. If I did, it would be directed at the most important topic of the day, which is not fanfic. ZK wrote: >I think that there's a great deal to be said for frivolity during >difficult times. Fred Astaire was my first crush. I longed to wear beautiful gowns and to dance as gracefully as Ginger Rodgers. Sadly, I'm a complete klutz and can't carry a tune. Oh well, maybe in my next life. As long as we're into Wingfield sightings, I might as well point out something that I don't think anyone has mentioned yet. PW plays a minor role somewhere in "X-Men 2", playing a character named Lyman, I think. I have no idea who this person is, or where he is in the film, so I guess we'll have to keep our eyes open. According to the PWFC site: Peter has just announced that he has a role in the next X-Men movie. Here's what he told the club: /I am playing the bad guy's henchman in “X-2” (The second “X-Men” movie; director Brian Singer, starring Halle Berry, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming etc.) Haven’t seen a script yet but I think I am around a lot but rarely speaking—the audition was three scenes and a total of 5 lines./ Posted 17 June 2002 The movie is due out in May 2, 2003. Peter will play Lyman, a henchman to Stryker, played by Brian Cox. It shows a group of soldier types, & PW is on the right side. The light managed to catch both his nose & his Adam's apple.... He's a military-man with a loathing for mutants who seeks to use the rising anti-mutant hystria to gain politcial advantage for his cause. A different variation of the character appeared in the X-Men graphic novel God Loves, Man Kills. There Stryker was a militant evangalist. It's an amazing piece of work and worth ordering from Amazon or your local comic shop. Probably one of the best comic-stories I've read in 20 years. > If Peter is his henchman, does that mean he's a mutant too? Unlikely, but............;) > Who is Brian Cox? Brian Cox is a great veteran British actor. (Adopts Simpsons voice...)You may have seen him in such films as The 25th Hour, The Mothman Prophecies, The Boune Identity, Braveheart (and Rob Roy) and Adaptation - to name but a few. ------------------------------ End of HIGHLA-L Digest - 10 Mar 2003 to 11 Mar 2003 (#2003-40) **************************************************************
