Financial Newsletter June 15, 2006/Jess Ragaza (previous issue) Webmasters, please (Background music: Dmitri Hvorostovsky Torna a Surriento - If it does not start right away, please click to open another widow for audio) Emphasizing what I said in the last issue "... the bull market has ended!" And we just saw ending yesterday a precipitous drop of 300 points in less than two months (since late April) http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=nasdaq&sid=3291&o_symb=nasdaq&freq=1&time=6 that as if the sky was falling! Now the market is on a technical rebound. My latest e-mail announcement Special Alert May 30, 2006, with unbelievable June updates! http://livinggracefully.com/Financial%20Newsletter/special_alert_may_30.htm has several updates that describe my excitement in multiple profitable activities taking advantage of this most unusual market instability (foolishness is probably a better word to describe it). Quoting the conservative economist.com: The era of cheap money is nearing an end. For the first time in 15 years, the three big central banks are now all tightening monetary policy. The European Central Bank has already followed the Federal Reserve's lead in raising interest rates; the Bank of Japan has stopped printing lots of money and will start lifting rates soon. Only now are the markets realising that interest rates may rise by more than they had expected. In the long term, rates should be roughly equal to nominal GDP growth, but in America and elsewhere they are still well below it. Optimists argue that America's economy is coping well with rising interest rates, but it hasn't really sniffed tight money yet. Without easy credit, dear oil will cause more pain. Hence, from the same forum: Brokers, feeling squeezed, are scrambling to serve hedge funds LIFE has been unusually hectic in the past few weeks for brokers rushing to fill buy and sell orders as financial markets toss and turn. Oh, that it were always so. It may seem hard to believe amid the recent rise in market volatility, but for some time brokers have been lamenting a whole range of pressures on their traditional businesses—not just the lack of action. With commissions for each trade having been whittled down to a fraction of what they once were and regulators increasing their focus on what clients actually pay for, broking has begun to look like a business in decline. Mark Hulbert falsely summing it up in Newsletter sentiment does not yet support strong recovery http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story.asp?siteid=bigcharts&dist=bigcharts&guid=%7B61A5D6AF-F76C-49E5-ADE5-A56153E456CA%7D. What recovery? Tell him The Bear market, actually, has just began. And we are seeing, I repeat only a major harmonic (cycle) on the way down! The financial disarray seems to spreading around the world, starting with industrialized countries: Japanese officials do damage control after stock plunge. Summing it all up, Fed report highlights dilemma: Higher prices and softer economy http://www.marketwatch.com/News/Story/Story.aspx?guid={5FE1C1B1-07C2-4D8C-9FB0-5BB2776129AC}&siteid=bigcharts&dist=bigcharts. On a brighter note, Refco (RFXCQ http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=RFXCQ&sid=0&o_symb=RFXCQ&freq=1&time=6, one of the largest commodities and futures trading firms, because of its spiraling chaotic collapse was first mentioned in October 20, 2005 Special Alert: My order to purchase. It has been extremely advantageously active lately as immediately shown by its chart during the last two months http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=RFXCQ&sid=0&o_symb=RFXCQ&freq=1&time=5. The news "By agreeing to pay a minimum of $675 million in a complicated settlement hammered out by federal prosecutors, Bawag won't face any criminal charges over its role in Bennett's alleged debt-hiding scheme. The total amount shelled out by Bawag eventually could exceed $700 million." added to the company's reorganized life. Naturally, I was able 11/10/2005 or an annualized return of 17.14%. Now tell me if you can get that return from your jumbo Certificate of Deposits?! I immediately turned around, still taking advantage of the current unusual market almost crisis, and purchased more COMPETITIVE TECHNOLOGIES INC (CTT) and BRANDPARTNERS GROUP INC (BPTR). Liberty Star Gold which we have been accumulating as mentioned in the Special Alert March 24, 2006 and a majority was sold at a great profit as detailed in For a whopping 32.54% appreciation, Special Alert April 27, 2006 Today I sold a sizable portion (70%) of Liberty Star Gold Corp that we have been accumulating (see special alerts just below) and retaining some because I believe the stock still has a bit of momentum to appreciate. The only reason for this amount to be sold is I would like to have some cash available for my usual buying day which this coming Monday is again showing quite a bit of robustness lately http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=lbts&sid=0&o_symb=lbts&freq=1&time=4. Our much better than the market achieving portfolio now stands: (1) Competitive Technologies Inc (CTT - http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=CTT&sid=0&o_symb=CTT&x=24&y=17) is engaged primarily in providing technology management services to universities, to federal agencies and laboratories, and to corporations with the goal of maximizing returns on clients' investments in technology. (2) Dura Automotive Systems Cl A (DRRA - http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=drra&sid=0&o_symb=drra&freq=1&time=6), first reported in one of my messages in early December 2004. (3) Integrated Electrical Svc (IES) (http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=ies&sid=0&o_symb=ies&freq=1&time=5, subsequently announced in my message dated December 16, 2004. (4) After noticing that InNexus Biotechnology, Inc.’s very uncommon disparity between its stock price, which was going down, and its excellent public announcement about its Super Antibody technology, I acquired the stock again. (5) OCA INC (OCA) as an analyst calls it the "McDonald's of braces," provides business services to orthodontists and pediatric dentists. The Company's client practices provide treatment to patients throughout the United States, Japan, Mexico, Spain and Puerto Rico. It nosedived (in the week beginning 6/6) upon discovery of impropriety, but steadily stabilized upon immediate action of its Board of Directors (BOD). From a yearly high of 7.88/sh to a low of 1.75/sh on 6/12 then immediately stabilized and firmly supported in a narrow price range between 1.75 and 1.85/sh (including daily fluctuations). On 7/11, my order placed the previous day, Sunday, 7/10, was executed at 1.76/sh. Then the stock after touching a momentary low of 1.75/shot immediately back up to 1.82/sh. This opportune incident almost tempted me to resell immediately as in a day’s trade. But better judgment led me to stick to my disciplined investing for more profits on a little longer term. (6) PUTNAM CAL INVT (PCA - http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/quickchart/quickchart.asp?symb=pca&sid=0&o_symb=pca&freq=1&time=8) registered as a closed-end, non-diversified management investment company. The investors’ positive response to favorable court rulings regarding its Chapter 13 proceedings and subsequent financial and management realignment is clearly evident in its recent price reversal for the better.
