I don't know... he liked Alexa. Maybe he likes sweet, innocent-looking
girls who have a penchant for dying. ;) But he'd definitely know more
where he stood with Faith. Because Buffy might just stick a sword
through his heart one day when he did something she didn't like! ;)

Why couldn't you have all of those? One week he saves the day. One
week he decides it's too much trouble. One week he meets a pretty
girl who draws him in and makes him do crazy things (stealing that
stupid crystal was crazy). One week he just lives and we get a
flashback based on his diary, which had hieroglyphics on the page.
("And there were these strange people talking in a language I'd
never heard, and they kept saying our god-king, Ra, was evil,
and an alien... And they kept mentioning something called the
Stargate...") Okay, that one would never happen. ;)

No, no! Not every week. That's my point. With such a character and
5000 years (assuming he's not the DPM) of flashbacks, you can do
something totally DIFFERENT every week. For crying out loud, you could
have episodes set in the future in you wanted! Why not? With Immortals
you could do anything.

Good point. I'm not sure either. But he could usually predict what
Duncan's actions would be.

Why not stick him in an office where it's up to people to figure out
what he does, and random people stroll in? Then you could have all
kinds of people and scenarios.

So dump the idea of having it in the present. Do episodes that jump
around in time. One week he's in Ancient Egypt with Daniel (okay, not

You could have like a prologue thing to explain the premise to the
dim audience members who need to be led by the hand.

No, no, with Methos you could NEVER have a typical episode! That's my
entire point! The only thing you could hope to expect is that he will
do whatever he needs to in order to survive. And you'd root for him
on that basis.

I really just wanted to argue that The Methos Chronicles *could* be
done. I don't want to do it myself! Geez. I came up with lots of things
that could be done already! But I'll think about it and get back to you.

And oooh, what this HL Cassandra afficionado wouldn't do to see *that*
particular fanfic written and posted (or if it turns out to be novel-length,
including juicy bits with Buffy, Angelus, Spike & Co at conflict with the Immortal
world of HL, submitted to Annie for an Ashton Press fanzine novel)...but I
digress into fantasy.

There might be more serious truth to that comment than we realize. Methos
might still have a fascination with death; it might date back to the Bronze Age
when he actually made himself Death personified and excersized it to a mania.
He still had it in the 1800's when he was in the company of Byron and
conducting autopsies as a doctor. Perhaps it's out of his fear of dying, the same fear
that's kept him alive so effectively for 5,000 years. I often wonder if his
fascination with Alexa wasn't as intense as it was *precisely* because she was
dying.

I didn't really see that in the ep, but that's not to say you don't have
a point. I mean, he told Duncan that he's never had a relationship with
an immie because it was too much of a commitment. He also said, "Twenty
years; six months - what's the difference?" ALL the women he's ever been
with have died. The only difference is the *how*, I'd guess. (You have
to wonder how many of them died in childbirth not knowing he knew they'd
been unfaithful... but I digress.) Then again, he WAS prepared to make
Alexa immortal... So at that stage he WAS able to make a commitment?
If he'd managed it, whos' to say he wouldn't have become bored after...
ten... twenty... two hundred years and dumped her. Could it have happened?
And NO, Leah, I am NOT writing fanfic about it! NO! :)

Heh. Speaking of crossovers, I have thought of a perfect, scientific
explanation to explain how Immortals are actually humans who were tampered
with by the Goa'uld ten thousands years ago. And like some who have the
Ancient gene, some have the Immortal gene. If the SGC got their hands on
an immie and did tests, all would become clear. :)
Then again, can you imagine what the cast of CSI (Vegas) would make of
the bloodwork of someone who'd been host to a Goa'uld?
