Wendy(Methos feels another Immortal.)(Methos sees the Immortal fleeing a burning building.)(Methos sees a child in a fifth floor window of the burning building.)(Methos calculates the odds of racing up 5 stories, getting the child, and getting down before being burned to death.)(Methos decides to get a beer.)(Methos later sees the other Immortal.)(Methos calculates the odds of winning a sword fight with the other Immortal.)(Having left his gun at home, Methos waves as the Immortal leaves town.)(Yippeeee)(:::snort::::) Well it could always be revealed that Methos is dating a pretty little blonde girl who just happens to be a vampire slayer..... Every time I see "The Girl in Question" I find myself saying "yeah but which Immortal is it??? (I don't think it's Duncan though) __________________________________ Yahoo! (I don't think it's Duncan though). Well it's not Methos, because if Methos is dating a Slayer, then Methos is dating Faith. Trust me. *nods* <g> And yes, Willow would wipe the floor with Cassandra. Of course, Willow would wipe the floor with most witch/wizard types. Except, obviously, Giles. And possibly Wesley. If he hadn't died, and all. . . -- Kamil (I still mourn the fact that Darth!Willow and 4th/5th season Wes never had the chance to face off. *sigh* Spanky: "You pathetic little fairy." Because Buffy might just stick a sword through his heart one day when he did something she didn't like! ;) >Spanky: "You pathetic little fairy." >Angel: "I'm not little!" > "Conviction" Angel the Series "And I'm almost out of that nancy-boy hair gel I like so much." >I miss my dead gay show. Methos meets mortals who...somehow...each week drag him into >their lives far enough that he actually acts on their behalf? Right. Why couldn't you have all of those? One week he saves the day. One week he decides it's too much trouble. One week he meets a pretty girl who draws him in and makes him do crazy things (stealing that stupid crystal was crazy). One week he just lives and we get a flashback based on his diary, which had hieroglyphics on the page. ("And there were these strange people talking in a language I'd never heard, and they kept saying our god-king, Ra, was evil, and an alien... And they kept mentioning something called the Stargate...") Okay, that one would never happen. ;) >So... we have a series about Immortals and the main Immortal shoots the >others and chops their heads off while they are dead? You're serious? He >doesn't fight...he "cheats" and what...laughs at how quaint all those >silly Rules are? No, no! Not every week. That's my point. With such a character and 5000 years (assuming he's not the DPM) of flashbacks, you can do something totally DIFFERENT every week. For crying out loud, you could have episodes set in the future in you wanted! Why not? With Immortals you could do anything. >An Immortal lawyer who argues cases and whack clients (mortal ones, at >that) as some kind of Immortal Avenger? Egad. >Does he? I'm not so very sure of that. Good point. I'm not sure either. But he could usually predict what Duncan's actions would be. >Not to mention that the whole >profiler thing is so very very overdone. Why not stick him in an office where it's up to people to figure out what he does, and random people stroll in? Then you could have all kinds of people and scenarios. >If he just >wants to kill people, there are easier ways. Why would he care? We'd have to think of some motivation that fits him. >I keep hearing you (and others) say there is a way to do this but I >don't see any concrete ideas as to *how*. Oh, come on, Wendy, I've given you lots of concrete ideas. You just don't like them. >Methos- The Man Who Doesn't Do Anything? >Methos is an essentially "passive" character. He reacts only when >pushed - then he does as little as possible to insure his survival and, >perhaps , comfort. So dump the idea of having it in the present. Do episodes that jump around in time. One week he's in Ancient Egypt with Daniel (okay, not Daniel because Nina hates him). Then he's in the 1800s somewhere. You could have like a prologue thing to explain the premise to the dim audience members who need to be led by the hand. >No, I wouldn't <g> Pffft! >Give me two sample plots of what you envision as a typical episode. No, no, with Methos you could NEVER have a typical episode! That's my entire point! The only thing you could hope to expect is that he will do whatever he needs to in order to survive. And you'd root for him on that basis. >I'll look forward to seeing >what you come up with <g> I really just wanted to argue that The Methos Chronicles *could* be done. I don't want to do it myself! Geez. I came up with lots of things that could be done already! But I'll think about it and get back to you. - Marina. \\ "I'm like every other kid in America. Because Buffy might just stick a sword through his heart one day when he did something she didn't like! ;) There might be more serious truth to that comment than we realize. Methos might still have a fascination with death; it might date back to the Bronze Age when he actually made himself Death personified and excersized it to a mania. He still had it in the 1800's when he was in the company of Byron and conducting autopsies as a doctor. Perhaps it's out of his fear of dying, the same fear that's kept him alive so effectively for 5,000 years. I often wonder if his fascination with Alexa wasn't as intense as it was *precisely* because she was dying. Methos >might still have a fascination with death; ... I often wonder if his >fascination with Alexa wasn't as intense as it was *precisely* because >she was dying. I didn't really see that in the ep, but that's not to say you don't have a point. I mean, he told Duncan that he's never had a relationship with an immie because it was too much of a commitment. He also said, "Twenty years; six months - what's the difference?" ALL the women he's ever been with have died. The only difference is the *how*, I'd guess. (You have to wonder how many of them died in childbirth not knowing he knew they'd been unfaithful... but I digress.) Then again, he WAS prepared to make Alexa immortal... So at that stage he WAS able to make a commitment? If he'd managed it, whos' to say he wouldn't have become bored after... ten... twenty... two hundred years and dumped her. Could it have happened? And NO, Leah, I am NOT writing fanfic about it! NO! :) - Marina. (It took me seven years to write a Stargate story.) (And even then it wasn't about Daniel.) (It was about Rodney.) (And John.) Speaking of crossovers, I have thought of a perfect, scientific explanation to explain how Immortals are actually humans who were tampered with by the Goa'uld ten thousands years ago. And like some who have the Ancient gene, some have the Immortal gene. If the SGC got their hands on an immie and did tests, all would become clear. :) Then again, can you imagine what the cast of CSI (Vegas) would make of the bloodwork of someone who'd been host to a Goa'uld? - Marina. \\ "I'm like every other kid in America.
