Season Four dvds: Brothers in Arms (2) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2004 13:51:00 +1000 From: Fiona Palmer <lorien1976@optusnet.com.au> Subject: Re: Season Four dvds: Brothers in Arms Hi MacGeorge, I've been lurking on this list for years now, and have really been enjoying your commentaries of the special features in these box sets. I've actually got Season 4 on DVD and one comments that you didn't mention (but struck me) was the opinion (was it the director?) that the guy playing the young Joe Dawson didn't actually look like Joe. I know for myself, one of the things that I really enjoyed about this episode was the portrayal of Young Joe and the huge amount of emotional insight he offers into the shaping of Older Joe. Unfortunately, I forget the young actors name, but not only did he bear a striking resemblance to Jim, I think he did a superb job of "matching" Jim Byrnes' affectations, speaking style, and resilient-but-sensitive personality. It was this flashback that really made the episode special (not forgetting the touching scene with poor Charlie at the end). Just had to add my two cents. :-) Fiona ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 7 Jun 2004 08:51:31 -0400 From: kageorge <kageorge@erols.com> Subject: Re: Season Four dvds: Brothers in Arms From: "Fiona Palmer" <lorien1976@optusnet.com.au> \ > Hi MacGeorge, > > I've been lurking on this list for years now, and have really > been enjoying your commentaries of the special features in > these box sets. This flashback was riveting and powerful, which is a tribute to the acting, writing and directing, and also to how much we care about Joe Dawson that an entire flashback would be devoted to him. MacGeorge P. S. The actor's name was Chris Bradford. ------------------------------ End of HIGHLA-L Digest - 6 Jun 2004 to 7 Jun 2004 (#2004-104) *************************************************************
