To be fair (and we do want to be fair, right?) most of the series that are coming out "promptly" are ones that are still on the air or have just finished their run - shows that have a fairly well guaranteed market and those which have not been our on VHS for years. Highlander ended 5 years ago. The VHS tapes have been available for along time and most fans already own them. Selling dvd's requires convincing those same people to spend more money on something they already own. If I were Anchor Bay or whoever), I wouldn't rush to put out 6 sets of dvds when I wasn't sure anyone would buy the first. And, yes, adding new material *might* persuade people that they needed the dvds in addition to the VHS tapes- but I reckon that most people will make the final determination of "to buy or not to buy" based on emotion attachment to HL rather than need for new a few new interviews. >It's not so much that BP was the ONLY one talking on the S1 DVDs, as he did >it so poorly & had nothing of note to say. That's what I hate about most commentaries- the people so seldom have anything interesting to say. Famous directors, actors, producers all end up sounding incredibly lame. The "making of" a TV series (or most movies) just isn't that fascinating from the inside. It's work more than "art" - and even listening to a great artist explain how a painting was created can end up dull and boring. The fun stuff like gossip about the stars, serious off-screen debates, embarrassing screw-ups seldom make it to commentary because the people involved all might work together again and don't want to burn any bridges.( "Yeah, that Jim Byrnes guy was a total lush and showed up drunk 3 days out of 4 " says co-star Adrian Paul.) Wendy ("Adrian was always stuffing a sock down his pants to look better on screen in his boxers" declares Stan Kirsch.)("I always thought Peter was gay" explains writer David Tynan,"You mean he isn't?") I think that, more than wisdom, swung the balance for Duncan. If he had met Mark under different circumstances (ie minus wife and unborn child) he might have been a lot more tempted to exact some old fashioned justice. But *with* the wife and baby, Duncan just couldn't do it. >I kept thinking back to 'Take Back the Night' and the >lesson that was passed between Mac and Cierdwyn....'revenge never >solves anything'.Mac knew that getting his revenge wouldn't change or >undo anything, and showed mercy even though there wasn't true >justice. Duncan doesn't totally give up revenge, he just chooses not to take revenge in this case. He definitely takes some revenge against other Immortals later on in the Series (After all, he kills Clay just for embarrassing him way back when<eg>) >The only part I didn't like was that Quickening...Can >we say 'Hokey'? Yes, we can say Hokey. And "blindingly stupid". And "very poorly done". I mean, what did they do? Hold a photo of the house in front of the camera and jiggle it? And this is the house he gives to Anne and her baby? A house that has been ripped off its foundation and dropped back onto it? What did *that* cost to fix??? >And how about that yummmy view of Duncan in his undies >and robe?Yummmmmmm! pantpantpant me-YOW! I was always a little embarrassed for Adrian. There was no good reason he had to be quite so exposed. It was too....intimate. Seeing him in bed pretending to make love to someone is less "intimate" than having him walk around in his undies. >Mac's got some great lines, too.('nice flea collar.' >Love it.) But just what kind of accent is Kanis trying for in the flashback? French? Russian? It was very bad. And the Duchess was so...awful. I didn't believe she was English or a Duchess. >Question: Why didn't Mac make any effort to call the >police and ambulance? I know that he probably knew there was no >hope, but I'd want to know that everything that could have been done >to try and save her had been done. I'm sure he *did* call the police and ambulance. We just don't see it. As for saving her, well, Duncan has seen a lot of dead people in his time. He knew she was dead and nothing was going to help. She never moved after being shot- I assume she was dead before she hit the ground. >Richie's lucky that they didn't have DNA testing >yet.. <G> They had DNA testing in 1992. >..they may have found that there were actually TWO blood types and >then things would've gotten even more confusing. Perhaps Richie didn't leave any blood at the scene? *If* the bullet didn't pass through him, then all of the blood would have been on the front of his body and may well have been collected by his clothes. As soon as he was "dead" (almost immediately) , the blood would stop flowing. Then he heals and comes back to life. No more bleeding...no blood at the crime scene. >Besides Darkness, Gathering and the ep with the >pigeons (Avenging Angel?) where were the Tessa flashbacks from? I didn't >recognize some of them.
