Another example of an actor who deliberately added homoerotic subtext to his character is Nicholas Lea who stated that he could see no other reason why Krycek would let Fox Mulder knock him around so much, and that he deliberately played the character as being gay and attracted to Mulder. (After all, the man was able to survive as a one-armed assassin for quite some time. How hard would it have been to protect himself against an FBI asgent who frequently dropped or forgot to use his gun?) -- Love, Glo. Which brings me back to HL. I've always thought (and this is just me, Nina - I'm not saying TPTB meant it that way, okay?) that Methos is in love with Duncan. (Or at least has a serious case of hero worship.) I mean, Duncan is a walking Immortal magnet, and Methos has stated over and over that he doesn't want a tombstone. But he hangs around with Duncan and even gets into fights on his behalf! He stated that he wants to keep him alive. Why? For altruistic reasons? I don't think the ROG has an altruistic bone in his body. Of course, if one takes Duncan as being totally straight (which I can buy) then Methos is destined for unrequited love. And I suspect that PW thinks Methos is in love with Duncan, too. Why else mention the nose-painting stuff and the spiral quickening? He could just be yanking the audience's chain, which is fine too. :) - Marina. \\ "You can spend precious time marching in your prefect lines, // // but I don't hear that drum; I'm looking for something \\ \\ else. I don't feel it's romantic love, I think it's more of a case of finally having someone who really knows who he is after all these eons. It must have been an unimaginable relief to be able to relax and be himself. This added to his deep respect for Duncan, and that special chemistry felt by people who really connect to one another (and not necessarily in a sexual way) led to a real friendship. Something the ROG hadn't indulged in for a very long time. But I think he saved the romantic love for Alexa. From the very first episode, MacLeod made it clear he wasn't a headhunter; didn't want Methos' head, even when it was freely offered. And if he wasn't going to take it, Methos reasoned he wouldn't let any hostile Immies come along and take it, either. MacLeod was still playing Clan Chieftain, and Methos knew he could exploit that. So he became fond of MacLeod and the benefits he brought. It probably became more personal, as he got to know him. Of course, once MacLeod killed Richie, Methos knew that safety factor was gone and he vanished.
