I got them from BestBuy.com for that price - no shipping charges. And they even arrived a few days before the release date. But, you obviously have a vital & long-term interest in Highlander--we all do here. And I strongly doubt anyone cares about HL _because_ it so often sucks. Logically, each of us likes that part of HL that does not, per our individual opinions, suck. So, you've been interested in HL overall to date; _you_ even liked Endgame (or at least you adored the editing of it). If HL5's premise doesn't interest you at all as a long-term fan, then you _are_ judging it & finding it to be lacking in quality. And that's everyone's right. Personally, I'll probably go see the damned thing, just in case a miracle happens & it's decent. But I think HL:TS was a fluke. After all the disappointments, freakishly idiotic decisions, lies, & fraudulent shenanigans re: every aspect of the franchise, I will never trust DPP about _anything_ ever again. > Lynn (still, unfortunately, from the web interface) Quit whining. Or just let the guy w/ a gun to your head (the one who is forcing you to read & respond to my list messages) do his worst. It's going to recorded next week in L.A.. I had thought about ordering from them until I found out they ship by US Mail rather then something like UPS. (where you'd have the advantage of being able to track the package and them usually not leaving it sitting outside if no one is home.) From: Ann Ford <aford@AUSTIN.RR.COM> I got them from BestBuy.com for that price -no shipping charges.[..] Haven't even had a chance to break the seal on them yet. I went over to a Best Buy last night and picked it up for $59.99. All I've had a chance to watch so far is the Bloopers but I was amused to see there's a post card inside you can use to send away for a HL Store catalog. =}{= (heidi@apocalypse.org) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Nov 2002 08:22:14 EST From: Bizarro7@aol.com Subject: Re: various replies In a message dated 11/14/2002 8:08:32 PM Eastern Standard Time, Highlandmg@aol.com writes: > Hi > > Call me sheep or anything else you want .. Perhaps it's the rush one gets from reflexively attacking everyone and everything that appears on the list. It doesn't seem to have much to do with the fandom, anymore, as that is regarded as inferior and contemptable. I suppose it's the compulsion for any sort of attention, positive or negative, and this is one technique to feed it. It's the TV series and characters that I fell in love with, and I eventually realized why; the movie is obsessed with the preservation of "There Can Be Only One," an idea that's very appealing if you're young and into games and warfare. But the TV series couldn't function without changing the concept to "There Can Be A Bunch," so that Duncan could have fascinating friends and allies who were Immortals too, without his having to kill them. Only evil Immies needed to die by the end of the episode. This meant the opportunity for character development and interaction *besides* the warfare and survival rules built into HL universe Immortality, and that's the part I like best. I do not have an interest in the movies except to the extent that they incorporate characters (and to a far lesser degree, themes and concepts) seen in the series. I did not see HL 1 until well after I started watching the series. I thought the first movie was interesting -- given what I knew from the series -- but I certainly wouldn't have given it a second thought if it hadn't been for the series. My interest in HL 2 and 3 was nonexistent. My only interest in Endgame was in the fact that characters from the series were included. So saying that I have an interest in the movies absent the series isn't true. > So, you've been interested in HL overall to > date; _you_ even liked Endgame > (or at least you adored the editing of it). Your oversimplification is inaccurate, as usual, but you aren't interested in accuracy, only twisting words to fit your so-called arguments. > If > HL5's premise doesn't > interest you at all as a long-term fan, then > you _are_ judging it & finding > it to be lacking in quality. No, I'm not. I'm simply saying I don't have an immediate, compelling interest in it if it doesn't incorporate the characters I already know. If it comes out and I hear it's fantastic, will I go see it? Sure I will. I am not judging the quality of anything, no matter how much you seem to want that to be the case. I believe you can't judge something until you've seen it. Period. > And that's > everyone's right. Your nasty words, uncivil tone, and generally dreadful demeanor on this list speak for themselves. Usually, ignoring you works just fine and I plan to go back to that at the very earliest opportunity.
