Hi, For some reason I can't access the website for the Highlander Store. I was wondering how much the seasons on DVD were going for now that its been a little while after they have been released? Thanks, Chris ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 May 2002 20:44:35 -0600 From: Barbara Osgood Designs <hairbows@northerntel.net> Subject: Re: Prices for Seasons on DVD? I got there yesterday via http://www.themethoschronicles.net/ and found HL merchandise. (Whatever happened with that?) First season (the only one right now) on DVD is 129.95. All seasons on video is 99.95 each. OBHLR: Has anyone done any thinking about the nature of the Great Highlander Obsession of the 90's? I know I haven't been that hooked on anything since - oh - the Beatles in about 1965? :::: thumping cane :::: I haven't watched HL for a very long time - it's kind of like books that I read until they're memorized. I'm always re-reading books in my mind. I remember one book that I read to pieces in the 70's when I found it: Edna Ferber's "Saratoga Trunk". I'd watched that spectacular train wreck scene as a kid (Gary Cooper and Ingrid Bergman starred), and I loved the movie and loved the book even more. Highlander is the same way. Right now the scene going through my mind, for some reason (I'm thirsty?) is Daniel Da - er Duncan running, shirtless and in slo-mo, across a pond in Mountain Men ("...nekkid blade to nekkid blade..."). I don't think I'll ever watch some of the episodes. 'The Darkness" is just too sad, and I've never cared that much about the S2 Yung Fool episodes. But there are some that are just magical, and I suspect I'll be able to pull them out soon and watch them. The memories, though- there's not a day that goes by that I don't have some great and often hysterically funny memory of HL culture at its best. HL culture, believe it or not, made a great difference in my life and certainly kicked me out of my hermit's cave (right next to "Was Carl T. Hermit and Immortal?") Just thinking about the parade and the Deceased Equine Derby in Cybercon I can still make me giggle ("Oh, the humanity!"). I think what prompted this today was looking at the cow mobile from my old house and wondering where to hang it. :) I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! I still watch some eps, and make "squeaking sounds" when I see HL alumni in other things. (Just got a tape of SG-1 and there was much squeaking going on when I was PW's name as a guest star in one ep.) >The memories, though- there's not a day that goes by that I don't >have some great and often hysterically funny memory of HL culture >at its best. Yeah. :) My fondest memory is the image of Kip with cushions duct-taped to himself, wearing a colander and poking the Weasel. >I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! Same here. Mary Very true BUT I know right now 4 people that would have bought the sets if they were cheaper, and that is only because we were talking about it last week because I was showing them my season 1 Buffy set. Then my MOM brought it up. She loved the show and asked me the other day if they sell the seasons like they are doing with Star Trek and I said yes but they are probably close to 100.00 and she just laughed. I would LOVE to buy them but that is just way to much. I could see if there were tons of bloopers and interviews etc. Also it would be great if you could buy some separate. I might not want a whole season but I would go nuts buying DVDs with a few eps on it.
