Reunion con question ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Mon, 27 Aug 2001 10:34:58 -0400 From: Elaine Nicol <ElaineN@compuserve.com> Subject: Re: Reunion con question >> Unfortunately I couldn't make it to the con in L.A., but I heard from a friend that you can't shop in the dealer's room without having a convention badge. I didn't think this was true of past cons. << >> Was I wrong to sell stuff to non-con-goers in the past or is this a new thing? Anyone know for sure? << A number of years ago it was discovered that dealers room couldn't be made private, something to do with licences. Most members of the public won't ever want to come in but if they do they can't be denied access. The first time I heard this one in the US, but it seems the same is true in the UK. Now personally I don't understand it for the following reasons. Fairs charge an entrance fee, so surely the con membership is also an entrance fee to the fair(dealers room). And what about conventions where they charge non-members a fee to enter the dealers room. Do any of our legal people here know the truth about this one as it has always puzzled me.
