I finally saw what you've been talking about for almost a year now. Endgame never got to theaters but at least it has been released on video. I wouldn't have known anything about it if not my eldest son had told me it was at Filmtown for rental. I don't know which version this was but I liked it. I watched it with my boys and they agreed that if they hadn't seen the TV series they wouldn't have gotten the idea of the film. Also it helped that I was there telling them what was happennig and what was wrong according to the canon. So HL Endgame was releasred in theatres in Estonia but never in Finland. And why is that? Because Finnish people don't know about immortals or Highlander. About ten years ago it was shown in TV and then again about four? five? years ago but not anymore. Although I think that all three movies were shown for a two or three years ago... but so late at night that I think hardly anyone saw them. Anyway, I'm a happy camper now since I've seen the fourth movie. Now my goal is to find and buy it, watch it again few times, and get a 'grip' of it. I picked up the Endgame DVD, which has just been released for sale in the UK apparently only at HMV. So all you Brits get out there and grab it now it's worth it. It's only a single disc, but it does have a Behind the scenes, the audio commentary, deleted scenes, quiz and a game on there. As well as the movie and some trailers for other movies. Now that I have seen a proper version, and not just the VCD version I had, which was certainly a rough version, I can actually pass some kind of comment about the movie. My first impression, I enjoyed it, yes I liked it. Maybe this was because I was expecting nothing or maybe it's better than the version everyone originally commented on, but I will certainly be watching it again and I am glad I bought it. Oh yes I can pick a few holes about timelines and stuff but I can do that with a lot of the episodes too.<EG> Elaine. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Aug 2001 21:01:09 -0400 From: Johanne Briere <jojoann@videotron.ca> Subject: mdr Bonsoir everyone, HL airs six days a week on the Z network, in French. Every Friday evening, they broadcasted a double bill. This coming Friday it will be "Star Crossed" and "Methos". I have not yet seen these in French and probably won't have a chance this time around but will eventually. The promo-ads on Z tells about the "Methos" episode in those words " Un immortel vieillissant offre sa tete a McLeod pour lui procurer de la force " which translated (roughly) (but close) as " An Immortal who is getting old offers his head to McLeod to give him more strenght" ... not an old Immortal, mind you. But an Immortal who is getting old ..... Well, it did raised my head long enough to laugh out loud (MDR !) (Mort de rire) ! While I am typing on this list, I want to address a comment that was made quite a while ago here .... it was during the discussion about morality and all that ... when at one point the copying of tapes and sending them around, either for cost or less or more also came around... and when someone did pointed out the tapes were available to buy .... Well, I meant to contradict that person and made a few statement about this. The HL tapes are not available. Not easily available. Not cheaply available. Not video stores available. When I shop around at Archambeault, Coles, Chapter, Renaud-Bray ... I can buy all kind of merchandises, all available right there , in cdn dollars, in either languages. Star Wars, Star Trek, Lois & Clark, Hercules, Xena, to name a very small sample ... are available in videos formats, books format, in French and in English; XFiles in DVD of both languages, in books ... that is availability. Lately, a question rose on Highlander-France ... there is absolutely no merchandise whatsoever available , not even from that HL store, with american dollars, requiring credit cards .... in French ... for French people .... yet ..... the serie is still being broadcast in France, has been co-produced in France, co-filmed in France, co-financed in France. Which while I kept wondering why nothing could be available in Canada , in stores, available, without fuss, without credit card, without paying in exorbitant american dollars ..... I had forgotten about the France co-partner .... and now, even now, HL airs in France in the province of Quebec six times a week, in English five days a week.... this is available to tape and to copy .... but not to buy. And HL fics are on the rise in the French fandom btw .... no surprise .... where else to read HL stories - unless one writes them. And copying will keep being done. After all, that is all that is available to have. @+ JoAnne jojoann@videotron.ca ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 13 Aug 2001 21:40:45 -0400 From: Johanne Briere <jojoann@videotron.ca> Subject: Vercingetorix - aka Druids Bonsoir encore, Vercingetorix opens on August 31st in Montreal. This movie which star CL as Vercingetorix, king of gauls, did not have a good review in France when it was release. I intend to see it nevertheless as Vercingetorix, as historical character, is someone I know since childhood and I am interested in him and his story. Such an epic was an interesting idea in the first place. But I think somehow , hilarious , that this movie opens on the very same HL:Le dernier affront (French title of Endgame in Quebec) did last year. I saw CL last year on the 31st ... and will see him again, same date. In another movie thrashed by critic. Wondering if the date is precursor of a bad omen :) Have no idea if the movie will open anywhere else, as in English Canada ... there is no promo for the movie. The trailer was seen with the French movie "Le pacte des loups" and posters are in movies theatres lobbies (I see plenty of movies in different theatres to have seen them all) but that is about it. Tracker .... well the Space network has put together a promo of its fall new shows. I know Tracker will be broadcast there as one of the manager post the information on their board. But it is not part of their, neat, promo, for the fall schedule. Is there no footage yet ? or is there no hope ?
